I’ve been saying the same thing for years, but my mind was changed during my fitting at TPI a few weeks ago. Every hybrid I have ever hit in the past has gone left.

However, the TSR1 hybrids were a whole new animal for me - long, high, and straight! I tried a couple of 7 woods during my fitting as well. My misses with the 7 woods tended to go left, but the TSR1 hybrids kept going straight. I took delivery of my 20 & 23 deg hybrids last Thursday. Had them out a few times thus far and really liking them.

My point is, don’t write off hybrids without trying the latest versions. I am now (finally) a believer.

21* is the standard but you will see 20* and 22* clubs called 7woods.

I should have also mentioned, as it may be suggested, I do not like hybrids. Natural tendency is to draw and it's exacerbated with hybrids.

Typically a 5 wood is around 18 degrees and a 7 wood around 20 - 21 degrees. I would not get too caught up in figuring out what to call it. You should try multiple loft options until you find the head/shaft combination that best fills your gap. Even the head covers these days are not labeled with anything except a tab with the degree loft on it. Just think of it as a fairway wood. Good luck and hope you find the right one for you.
