Putter Fitting

Had my first ever putter fitting last Saturday with SAM lab. I wish I had done this a lot sooner. It took about an hour, and I ended up with a Scotty Studio-Style square back. Feels so good off the face, and I would highly recommend getting fit for a putter.

I have been a Newport player since it first came out in 1995\1996, still have that one, but have upgraded to newer Newport models over the years, went through a putter fitting once and of course Newport just worked for me again. I am considering a new fitting with all the new putters that are blade looks with more MOI such as the Squareback 2 or the Fastback 2, but they will have to have an automatic make mode to get me from the classic Newport. I did buy one Mallet once just because it was so unique, it was the original Futura with the big horseshoe weight that came out in 2003, it is in my collection even though I have never played it

I did the same thing but from a local fitter and ended up buying a couple year old Super Select Newport 2. Great club. Look forward to sending to Scotty to have the colors customized to a Red/White/Blue theme. Also liked the same club you got but blade felt better, but both great clubs. Congrats.

@23cc7d633a Did you ever get an answer for this? I have a similar hybrid from Ebay in the TSR2 version.. it sounds very different from the fairway wood, it has the plastic grip cap, and the shaft is installed 90 degrees rotated from what I would have expected. The head weights 230g which I don't know if that's correct.

I purchased a 3 iron off eBay to match my set and straight away after hitting it, it doesn’t feel right at all Checking the serial number against the rest of my set it is a different size font, and looking at closely comparing my clubs and this 3 iron there are few other aspects that look right, event the feel of the head is different Can anyone advise on how I can get this checked out please

So I went for my fitting for GTS driver and fairway woods. Ended up ordering GTS4 driver, GTS2 3 wood, GTS3 5 and 7 wood. Ordered 3 weeks now and still no sign, see shops now have them in, a bit gutted not to have received them yet. Anyone else finding the same?

When you feel you do not have to work as hard to hit the longer clubs. As I have started to loose distance over the past five years, I have gone to all regular shafts and use a lot of hybrids. At the young age of 80 (in September) and proud of it, my longest iron is a six. My current set up GT2D 10.75, GTF2F 14.25, TRSH 17.0 TSR H 21.0, GT3H 24. Having had back surgery in Oct got my drivers back up to 220 on a very good day. It's been a long hard road. Still working on the irons. T350 6-48W, Vokey 56.10S. All custom fitted. Getting new irons nest year. You are a youngster. Play to have fun and move up to enjjoy the game. Leave the ego at home. I got rid of my 3 and four irons in my early sixties and stopped using my five iron two years ago. .

When to switch to hybrids

Aging (50) has me considering getting rid of the traditional 3 and 4 iron. I have been playing a hybrid for these clubs and I really like it. Just kind of stings a little when you make the switch. I hit the hybrid much better though. Pride goes out the window if I save a few shots on the course.

I recently had the opportunity to test the new head on the course for the first time. As a 4-handicap with a stock swing speed of around 118 mph, I was immediately impressed by the club face. It exudes an effortless power that is simply unmatched.

Before trying the GTS head, I had been playing with the GT head, and while I achieved similar numbers, they required almost perfect strikes. However, with the GTS, even a slight 1/4-inch off-center strike resulted in the same feel as a smash factor of 1.50.

I thoroughly enjoyed the weight distribution and adjustable weights of the head. The idea of adding a second weight to the GTS2 is particularly innovative. Initially, I had doubts about the driver’s originality, but after trying it out on demo day, I realized that it was a well-crafted copy of the previous model.

After Titleist fitting I changed to the new GTS with an Ultra shaft. I am a 77 Y O 14 handicap player and gain 15 to 20 yards of fthe tee. Just as or more accurate them my old TM 2 year old driver. Very happy with the purchase. John B

I got fitted with the GTS 3 driver. Garrett Todd, Titleist Fitting Rep, did an excellent job with the fitting. He got me dialed in really well. Picked up 3 mph clubhead speed and 10 yards of carry. Found out that I was probably playing the wrong ball for me. Had been playing the AVX and switched to the ProV1x. The ball feels really nice off the clubhead, getting more distance, better ball flight, and more control. I am 74 years old and anything that can give me more distance and control is really nice to have.

GTS3 Sliding Weight Cover

Hi everyone. I just bought a GTS3 driver and I was trying to open the sliding weight cover and one of the tabs got stuck. I messed with it for a while and ended up breaking one of the tabs and messing up the screw.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement cover and screw?

Titleist has been shifting release dates. One rumor is the next line of T series irons will coordinate with the PGA Convention and not around the US Open. The hybrids may be linked to that release. Pretty sure the hybrids will not be this summer. Titleist is generally tight lipped about release dates until they announce per-order dates.

What works for each individual is, an individual response.

I have replaced prior hybrids and fairways with TSR/GT 1 models. Love ‘em. I have ended up with a GTS-2 driver over a GT-1 driver as it was too spinny for my swing. I still anticipate a full line of GTS-1 products to be released but for me the GTS-2 driver works.

At 76, the one thing I have in common with Fred Couples is we carry the same number of metalwoods - and that is a higher number than the number of irons we carry.
At wherever stage your game is, play the best equipment for that. Ego doesn’t put the ball in the hole.

Got fitted with Adam Lash at Breakers West a couple of weeks ago. Incredible experience with all of his fitting knowledge and techniques.

Just got them this morning and I can’t wait to try them out! Definitely taking them to Casa de Campo next week!!
