Team Titleist has officially been around for over a decade now, but the community of avid Titleist golfers started nearly a century ago. The Titleist brand exists because an avid golfer wanted to develop the best performing equipment in the world. By 1935, golfers started taking pride in teeing up a Titleist golf ball as a unifying symbol of their passion for the game and desire to play their best.
Snapback to 2021 where there are now countless Team Titleist members around the globe. Thousands of these brand fans enjoy surprise deliveries, product testing opportunities, and some even enjoy access to the best players and instructors in the world. From the shared passion for the game to the truly unique Titleist experiences and everything in between, the Team Titleist Invitational exemplifies everything this exceptional community is all about.
The 6th Annual Invitational took us back to where this yearly pilgrimage of Team Titleist members all started, Pinehurst. The Cradle of American Golf, and the first Anchor Site of the U.S. Open, which returns in 2024, 2029, 2035, 2041 and 2047. And in the company of golf destinations that are worth revisiting, Pinehurst is certainly one to always consider; and boy did it deliver.
Day 1
Team Titleist members arrived in full force at the welcome reception and were greeted with a coveted TT Invitational tee gift before taking on Thistle Dhu, Pinehurst’s 18-hole putting course. While only one guest would go low enough to win a Scotty Cameron Putter, all guests felt a bit of triumph as a Scottish bagpiper serenaded the group as the sun set over the longleaf pines.
Day 2
Team Titleist started their day with a famed Carolina breakfast before making their way to the course where more surprise swag awaited - including exclusive TT ball marks and divot tools along with the recently released Pro V1 Left Dot golf balls. The Custom Performance Option (CPO) golf balls just weren’t a gift however, the Titleist Golf Ball R&D team kept their running tradition of tapping this exclusive group for their valuable feedback by hosting focus groups with players after their rounds.
Speaking of rounds, Pinehurst No. 4 was the course du jour. Gil Hanse notably redesigned Pinehurst No. 4 in 2018 and it promptly made its debut as a championship venue during the 2019 U.S. Amateur. Starting the Invitational on the redesigned No. 4 was somewhat serendipitous as Team Titleist was one of the last groups to play the course before Hanse and team got to work on the improvements—and improved it was as some members touted the track as the best course on property.
After another delicious lunch spread in the Donald Ross Room, the day concluded with Josh Talge, Vice President of Titleist Clubs, giving the group the inside scoop on our New T-series irons lineup. As much as we all love talking golf clubs, they are far more fun to hit so we turned Team Titleist loose under the watchful eye of multiple Titleist fitting experts to experience the re-engineered performance.
Day 3
If you think Day 2 sounds epic, hold onto your hats. Day 3 started on the course that has hosted more single golf championships than any course in America, Donald Ross’ Pinehurst No. 2—and what a fantastic day it was for golf.
It’s always hard to improve upon the thrill of playing Pinehurst No. 2, but Bob Vokey and the Vokey Design team showed up in full force to give it their best shot. It was a wedge whirlwind as Team Titleist took photos and hit wedges with the Master Craftsman himself. After the Vokey wedge experience, Team Titleist turned their attention to Pinehurst’s short course, The Cradle for a casual 9 holes before dinner.
What better way to wind down after a full day of golf than with good food, good drink, and good company. We won’t bore you too much of the well-deserved thank yous shared at dinner, but we would be remised to not restate what a fantastic host Pinehurst was and the integral role they played in making this a first-class event. If you have yet to experience Pinehurst, we encourage you to make sure it has a firm spot on your golf bucket list.
And at the end of the night the biggest thank you of all was for the extraordinary Team Titleist members who made this one of the most memorable Team Titleist Invitationals of all time.
Day 4
The final day is always bittersweet, but this year's bon voyage was a little sweeter with one additional round of golf. Team Titleist packed their bags bright and early and headed to Pinehurst Centennial No. 8 for our final round. This was also the groups last chance to win coveted raffle tickets and hit it tight on the par 3s to win a ton of awesome prizes like 30+ dozen Pro V1 golf balls, T-Series irons, TSi driver and fairways, Vokey Design Wedges, Scotty Cameron Putters, and a whole lot more. And as the final putts fell on this last day and travel bags were loaded into cars, it was a time to say see you later (and definitely not goodbye) to an amazing group of golfers.
This is always one of the most rewarding weeks for all of us at Titleist because getting this community together is what this great game is all about.
