My name is Conor and I am 32 years old. I’ve been golfing ever since I can remember and I owe it all to my Grandfather, Don. He not only taught me golf etiquette and inspired me to fall in love with the game at a young age, but he taught me the most important thing, patience.
To say my Grandfather was an inspiration is an understatement, not just to me but to so many other people. Whether it was winning club tournaments or designing custom clubs in his garage for friends and family, he was always sharing his knowledge and trying to help others.
He was the president of one of the top country clubs in Michigan, Meadowbrook Country Club and lived out his later years at Mullett Lake Country Club in Northern Michigan.
In his 98 years of life, he had never got a hole in one, so this first hole in one was a very special moment for me. I think about him everytime I have a golf club in my hand and am thankful for everything he taught me.
Rest in peace, Donald Schwalm. You are missed greatly and I love you.
