My first ever experience at a course on my bucket list, Merrill Hills in Waukesha, WI, August 14, 2025, a buddy of mine who was gracious enough to invite me out to the course for the experience had us a tee time around 830am that Wednesday morning.
We got paired up with 2 other gentlemen who were an absolute privilege to play with. We are coming off hole 15 and Tim says "someone is going to ace this hole!" Then continues to say "well, you (referring to me) still have honors!" I turn around and say, "how am I supposed to tee off with that comment hanging around?"
Stepping up to the ball, I did not want to be long left but did not want to come up short with water well short and traps 15ft apart front right and left. The pin was at 128yds and we had about 15 yards behind the pin. So I say grab a PW and just put a decent swing on it, no need to swing hard.
My target was right edge of the green with the hopes of drawing it to the center of the green. Little did I realize it was a swing I would never forget. The ball came off the club flush, hit it's Apex and started turning towards the stick. Someone behind me says "it's got a chance!" The ball lands about 3 ft right and 3 yards long of the hole, checked immediately and gently rolled back down the slope and we watched it disappear in the back of the cup! That was it! My first one in 26 years of golfing.
Many, many, MANY close calls, hit pins and lip outs and every one has been with a ProV1 or ProV1x. To cap it off I also made a great par save on 17 and gave myself a good look at birdie on 18 but made a par to finish for a back 9 39! Not bad for this guy. Thank you Titleist for quality products!
