Headcovers flying down the path along with our scorecard. Gusting like it does sometimes up along the Kohala Coast. #5 was playing 141 yards, normally an 8 iron for me. Me and buddy looked at each other and agreed it had to be at least a two club wind. Maybe more. So I grabbed my 6 iron and teed up my Pro V1. Pretty sure I overswung a touch, but somehow managed to pure the ball. We watched as it struggled into the last gust, then lost it as it went over a natural area towards the green. My buddy said, "It was on a really good line!". When we got to the green the beverage cart and Alicia pulled up. We chatted and bought a couple of Gatorades, the whole time I'm glancing back at the green. Nothing on the green. My buddy was short right, just off the fringe. It's not long, short or right. Must be in the crap across on the left. Familiar terrain. Said bye to Alicia and strolled out with my Vokey 56 and my putter. Walked across the green towards the left above the hole. Glanced in as I passed and I see my star above Titleist on the ball in the cup. Holy sh*t. Speechless, I pointed down and looked at my buddy. He said, "Don't touch it!". After he chipped up close I said, "That's good". He plucked my ball out of the hole and shook my hand. Best day ever.
