Is ther anyone out there who is a member of the Golf Channel Amature Tour? It sounds interesting and I have been thinking of joining it this coming season just for the competition.
Your thoughts...

Haven't played in it but I'm curious on how they run the tournaments. Let us know if you play and what the experience was like.

I have also been thinking about joining the amature tour in jacksonville, fl area. I dont think the online website gives enough information. Anything could help. Been very excited about it.

Looks very interesting to me. The registration fee of $200 requires that you play at least 2 events to keep your cost per round reasonable. I'm from Texas and they have 3 events at some pretty nice resorts with some pretty challenging golf courses. Looks like fun time at a reasonable cost. 2 rounds of golf at +-$300 plus lodging.

I played in couple events in Ohio a few years ago. These events were open to non-members. But back then it was sponsored by some beer, sorry don't remember which one.
They were flighted by hcp.
They kept some stats, I don't remember which, and could be viewed on that tours web site.
A friend was a member and they ran some kind of a team competition at the same time,
I think if you placed high enough throughout the year you got a trip to the final, which was the best of all the area tours.
About all I know, and since TGC has taken it over it may all be changed.
I will be joining it this coming season. I live on Long Island, NY so I would have to wait a couple more months to play. Hopefully by mid March... Any ways I'll keep everyone posted.

I was looking at joining the Am Tour also, although I live in Buffalo and have to wait for all this stupid snow to melt. I looks very cool and offers some great courses to play, with what I imagine would be some good competition. I'm really looking forward to spring and getting outside to swing the clubs (Titleist ones of course). Have fun Danny and hit 'em straight !
