Hey, just putting this out there, that May is Skin Cancer/Melanoma awareness month, i know It’s almost over and couldn’t find any posts about this, so i hope you all go get annual skin check ups done. Schedule an appointment if you haven’t already done so. And don’t forget to put sunscreen lotion every time before golfing.

Yep, I have mentioned it a few times. Having had four Mohs procedures for basal cell carcinomas is no fun and fortunately no melanoma spots so far. Hard to avoid the sun in Arizona but most of my damage was done in my younger years in Texas when we didn’t know better. Prevention is important but so is monitoring by a good dermatologist.

Dale, sorry that i missed seeing your posts about this.

I’m going to get my first bcc surgery in a couple of weeks, doc said no golf for about 2 weeks. Does that sound about right?. I had melanoma on my back little over 3 years ago, lucky that my roommate saw it and told me about it.

My guy didn’t tell me I could not golf but two sets of stitches, internal that dissolve and external that are removed after two weeks, kind of made me decide to limit my outdoor activities until after the stitches were removed.

Too late for another old guy. The good news is only 1 basal cell removed, no melanoma. Lots of scaling.
Not that the surgery was fun, just that it beats melanoma …Take care..

Thanks Amanda. Great reminder. Had a basal cell removed from my face in March. The Dr also removed spot above my ankle I didn’t know I had. Get checked.

One of the fortunate ones. See a dermatologist every year and have a great collection of the Tour Aussie and Breezer Bucket hats. Have worn those Aussie hats for many years. Saves having those surgeries on the nose, ears and necks. Based on doctor's recommendations am a cart rider, which also helps.

Annual visit to my dermatologist and spray front and back nine with Neutregena Beach Defense 60 SBF. You can't mess around in Florida.

See a Derm frequently! Paying the price for ignoring when I was younger. Titleist/FJ has plenty of great SPF blocking gear :)
